Express Entry
Express Entry
Express Entry is an online system managed by Canadian government to provide permanent residence
to skilled workers.
Eligible candidates submit their profile to IRCC and receive a comprehensive ranking system (CRS) score. Under the Express Entry program candidates with high scores are invited to apply for permanent residence.
There are 3 immigration programs managed through Express Entry:
- Canadian Experience Class
- Federal Skilled Worker Program
- Federal Skilled Trades Program
Express Entry is a two-step process.
Step 1 – Submit your Express Entry profile to be accepted into the Express Entry pool of Candidates.
Once express entry profile is created, candidates will receive CSR score based on their age, level of education, language proficiency (English and French) and work experience.
Your profile remains active in a pool for one year from the date of submission. To apply for permanent residence under Express Entry you must receive an invitation to apply (ITA). Please note that you only move to second stage if you receive an ITA.
Approximately every two weeks, the Government of Canada issues ITAs to highest scored candidates.
Step 2 – Apply for permanent residence after receiving ITA.
The second step involves applying for permanent residence after receiving an ITA from Government of Canada. You have 60 days to submit your application for permanent residence after receiving an ITA.
To be eligible under Express Entry you must meet the criteria for one of the federal economic programs.
